If a person passes away at home, the first thing to do is look for anything suspicious, like a forced entry or anything missing. If nothing looks suspicious, contact a medical response team such as the National Emergency Medical Services, Netcare 911 or ER24.
A medical practitioner must issue a certificate to confirm the death. If the doctor cannot determine the cause of death, the police will notify the coroner.
They will immediately determine if the death is natural or unnatural, and will arrange for the body to be taken to the mortuary.
Emergency response may refer to services provided by emergency and rescue services agencies, as well as the plans made and actions taken within an organziation to respond to emergencies. Emergency response plans are an important component of workplace safety.
